The Weave of my Life
It is a Dalit novel written by Urmila Pawar. She is a marathi writer. the original title of this novel is Aayadan. It is an autobiographical novel that deals with ups and downs of her life. The writing technique of Urmila Pawar addopts, the lives of different members of her family, her husband'"s family, her neighbors and classmates are woven together in a narrative that gradually reveals different aspects of the everyday life of Dalits, the manifold ways in which caste asserts itself and grinds them down. The author's"point of view is also woven from two stands: that of young girl uncomprehendingly witnessing instances of caste injustice, patriarchal domination and the daily compulsions of poverty and of the mature woman looking back on these with the insights. she has gained later on in her life. And yet the narrator's position is neither central nor distanced: it is constantly engaged.
Urmila discussed all the problems of her personal and publuc life frankly. She is severely criticizwd by her own fellows too. She also writes about Dalit turn towards Buddhism. She wrote that when Ambedkar converted himself to Buddhism the Dalits of Mahar community of Maharastra decided to do the same. Dalits all over the state followed him in giving up the worship of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and embreced the Buddhist faith.
after reading this book I came to know about the real condition of Mahar Dalits were in past. so I can say that they suffered very much.
