                                          Post-Viewing Tasks

Q-1  How faithful is the movie to the original play?
A-1   I think the movie is more faithful to me, because I more understand the play by                                 watching than reading.  Kenneth Branagh had made the movie very gently. He covered all the important scenes. So it is easy to understand and remembering for long time.

Q-2   After watching the movie, dose your perception about play, characters or situations change?
A-2     yes, there is some change in my mind for the character of Hamlet. I think comparison with the play he more rudely with Ophelia and Gertrude. Here Kenneth Brenagh did not change the situation of Ophelia’s death. He keep secrete about it.

Q-3    Do you feel ‘aesthetic delight’ while watching the movie?
A-3    I feel aesthetic delight while I saw that Hamlet was killing his uncle because he   complete his revenge.

Q-4    Do you fee ‘catharsis’ while or after watching the play?
A-4    Yes, I feel ‘catharses by watching the movie. Many scenes are creating catharsis. Like, I feel very pity when Hamlet behaves very rudely with Ophelia and his mother. How he rejected her mother’s and Ophelia’s love. I also feel fear when the ghost came and telling the secret of his murder. The atmosphere of forest was viewed very horrible, it creates fear. Also feel pity for Hamlet, how he acted as mad but actually he was not. So that way I feel Catharsis while watching movie.

Q-5   Dose screening of movie helps you in better understanding of the play?
A-5   I think the screening of movie, its helps us to understand more about the play. Because after watching the movie the concept of the play or story makes clear in our mind. And such scenes are always remaining in our mind. So its also helps us in exam. As a form of movie we also get interest so its remain in our mind for long time.

Q-6  Was there any particular scene or movement in the movie that you will cherish lifetime?
A-6  Yes, there were many scenes which I will cherish life time. Like, Ghost scene, Nunnery scene etc. In Ghost scene, how the Ghost came and talked with Hamlet. Ghost’s speech and scene of jungle, it was snow falling. These all movements are cherish to me life time.

Q-7   If you are director, what changes would you like to make in the remarking of movie on Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’?

A-7    If I will make the remaking of movie on Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’, I like to omit some scene, which Kenneth Brenagh don’t. Like the last death scene of the movie because it’s create catharsis for me.

Book Review

             The Weave of my Life
It is a Dalit novel written by Urmila Pawar. She is a marathi writer. the original title of this novel is Aayadan. It is an autobiographical novel that deals with ups and downs of her life. The writing technique of Urmila Pawar addopts, the lives of different members of her family, her husband'"s family, her neighbors and classmates are woven together in a narrative that gradually reveals different aspects of the everyday life of Dalits, the manifold ways in which caste asserts itself and grinds them down. The author's"point of view is also woven from two stands: that of young girl uncomprehendingly witnessing instances of caste injustice, patriarchal domination and the daily compulsions of poverty and of the mature woman looking back on these with the insights. she has gained later on in her life. And yet the narrator's position is neither central nor distanced: it is constantly engaged.
Urmila discussed all the problems of her personal and publuc life frankly. She is severely criticizwd by her own fellows too. She also writes about Dalit turn towards Buddhism. She wrote that when Ambedkar converted himself to Buddhism the Dalits of Mahar community of Maharastra decided to do the same. Dalits all over the state followed him in giving up the worship of Hindu Gods and Goddesses and embreced the Buddhist faith.
after reading this book I came to know about the real condition of Mahar Dalits were in past. so I can say that they suffered very much.
